Arts, Health and Wellbeing at Artsfest

Praxis has been in discussion with Artsfest, Birmingham’s popular free festival about a dedicated Arts, Health and Wellbeing venue at the event. This has now been confirmed and will take place in the Banqueting Suite at the Council House on 10 and 11 September. The venue will host a range of artists and companies for workshops, discussions and performances.

There will also be an exhibition and information space in the foyer between the two sides of the venue. We want to use this space to highlight the range of arts and health work taking place across the region and for you to promote your work. We want as much and as varied material as possible to make a really big splash at the venue.

Talking emotion: a Drama, Storytelling and Video project for the community

‘Talking Emotions’ is the culmination of ‘Mind Up’, a Drama, Storytelling and Video project for the community.

Since January 2011, Community Vibe have been working with adults with experience of mental health and members of the local community on this mixed-media project which looks at the benefits of creativity for improving health and wellbeing.

Throughout the project, participants have had the opportunity to work with artists who specialise in Drama, Creative Writing and Digital/Visual Media. As with all of our community arts projects, we regard everyone who participates as ‘artists’.
